GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS (GTC)
Effective as of January 1, 2025
Article 1 – Introductory Provisions
- These General Terms and Conditions (hereinafter referred to as “GTC”) govern the contractual relationship between the Lessor and the Lessee regarding the rental of motor vehicles by CARDOT s.r.o.
- Definitions of Key Terms:
- Vehicle: The motor vehicle specified in the Rental Agreement, including accessories, documents (registration certificate, insurance card), and mandatory safety equipment.
- Damage: Any damage, loss, theft, deterioration, or unauthorized wear and tear of the vehicle, including the interior, exterior, tires, windows, and undercarriage.
- Lessee: A natural or legal person entering into the Rental Agreement. The driver must meet the following criteria: minimum age of 21, holder of a Group B driving license for at least 2 years (without a current driving ban).
- Additional Driver: A person added to the agreement (free of charge) who must meet the same conditions as the main driver; identified by documents upon pick-up.
- Documents Required for Rental (for all drivers):
- Identity card or passport.
- Group B driving license (valid, held for min. 2 years).
- Credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard; AmEx and Diners are not accepted) for the deposit and payment.

- Consumer Notice: Pursuant to Section 7 (6) (k) of Act No. 102/2014 Coll., the consumer cannot withdraw from the contract within 14 days without giving a reason, as the subject of the contract is the provision of a service (rental) on a specific date. Cancellation terms are governed by Article 10 of these GTC.
Article 2 – Ordering and Conclusion of Contract
- Vehicle orders must be made in advance (via web form, telephone, or e-mail). The minimum rental period is 1 day.
- The contractual relationship is established upon signing the Rental Agreement and the Handover Protocol during vehicle pick-up. It may also be established electronically (online form with an electronic signature) if enabled by the Lessor – in such a case, the order confirmation is considered binding.
- The Lessor shall verify the identity of the Lessee (documents). In case of suspected fraud or failure to meet requirements (age, experience), the Lessor reserves the right to refuse the conclusion of the contract and the handover of the vehicle.
Article 3 – Handover and Return of the Vehicle
- Operating Hours: Vehicles are handed over on business days (Mon – Fri) from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Outside these hours (including weekends), pick-up is only possible by prior agreement (a fee may apply).
- The Lessee is obliged to inspect the vehicle and report any deficiencies before departure.
- Return of the Vehicle:
- The Lessee shall return the vehicle at the agreed time and location.
- Grace Period: 59 minutes. After this period, a rate for an additional full day of rental will be charged.
- Extension of the rental is only possible in writing (e-mail/SMS) at least 24 hours in advance.
- Failure to return the vehicle without agreement is considered unauthorized use (fine of 100 EUR + daily rental rate).
- The vehicle must be returned clean, with a full tank (Full to Full), and complete equipment.
- Assistance Services: Included in the price 24/7 (towing up to 100 km in case of technical failure, replacement vehicle if available). If the failure is caused intentionally or by the Lessee’s negligence (e.g., dead battery due to forgotten lights, fueling with the wrong fuel), the costs of the service call shall be borne by the Lessee.
Article 4 – Rental Price and Mileage Limits
- Final Prices: Prices on the website are final and include 23% VAT. The Lessor reserves the right to change prices in case of unpredictable circumstances (change in tax rates, fuel prices), of which the client will be informed at least 7 days in advance.
- Mileage Limit: The rental price includes a limit of 200 km / day, up to a maximum of 3,500 km per calendar month.
- The total limit for the rental is calculated as the number of rental days × 200 km (up to the monthly maximum).
- Fee for excess mileage: 0.18 EUR (incl. VAT) / km.
- Included in the Price: Vehicle without decals/branding, maintenance service, MTPL + Casco insurance, Slovak highway vignette, assistance services, additional driver fee.
Article 5 – Payment and Deposit
- Payment: Made upon vehicle pick-up (cash, payment card – debit/credit, or in advance via bank transfer). When paying with a card held in a currency other than EUR, the Lessee bears all potential exchange rate differences and conversion fees.
- Invoicing: For long-term rentals (over 15 days), interim monthly invoicing is possible.
- Refundable Security Deposit: 300 EUR.
- Handled via card block (pre-authorization) or in cash.
- The Lessor is entitled to unilaterally offset from the deposit: contractual penalties, insurance deductibles, missing fuel, and cleaning costs.
- The deposit refund (release of block) will take place within 7 business days after the vehicle is returned without defects or damage. If the deposit was paid in cash, it will be returned directly upon vehicle handover.
Article 6 – Insurance and Liability for Damage
- Basic Coverage (included): The deductible (excess) applies to each damage incident separately (i.e., each damage that is not factually or chronologically related is considered a separate event with a separate deductible).
Amount of Damage Client’s Deductible (Excess) Up to 3,000 EUR 300 EUR Over 3,000 EUR 10% of the total damage amount - PREMIUM Insurance (at extra cost):
- Reduces the deductible to 0 EUR in case of bodywork damage, theft, or total loss.
- Exclusions: Does not cover interior damage (burned seats, stains), glass, undercarriage, tires/rims, and damage caused by gross negligence or intent (alcohol, wrong fuel). In these cases, the Lessee bears full responsibility.
- Obligations in Case of Accident: The Lessee is obliged to:
- Immediately call the Police to any accident, theft, collision with animals, or damage in a parking lot and request a police report. Without a report, the insurance becomes void, and the Lessee pays 100% of the damage.
- Refrain from any action that could lead to the denial of insurance claims (e.g., fleeing the scene).
- Notify the Lessor of the event within 24 hours.
Article 7 – Traveling Abroad
- Entry with the vehicle is permitted only to European Union (EU) countries.
- The Lessee must inform the Lessor of any trip abroad in advance (min. 24 hours), which will be recorded in the agreement.
- Traveling outside the Slovak Republic without the Lessor’s consent is considered a gross breach of contract with full liability for any damages.
Article 8 – Rights and Obligations of the Lessee
- The Lessee is obliged to take proper care of the vehicle (check fluids, tire pressure).
- Liability for Offenses: The Lessee is fully responsible for all traffic offenses and violations (e.g., speeding, illegal parking, unpaid vignettes) committed during the rental period. If a fine is delivered after the rental ends, the Lessee agrees to pay the fine, including the relevant administrative fee.
- Strict Prohibitions:
- Smoking in the vehicle (including electronic cigarettes).
- Transporting animals without a transport box.
- Towing other vehicles or trailers.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol, medication, or drugs.
- Leaving valuables and documents in the vehicle (the Lessor is not responsible for their theft).
Article 9 – Penalties and Fees
The Lessor is entitled to charge the following contractual penalties (may be deducted from the deposit):

Article 10 – Cancellation Policy
- The following fees apply in case of reservation cancellation:
- Cancellation more than 72 hours before rental: No fee.
- Cancellation 72 to 24 hours before rental: 20% of the rental price.
- Cancellation less than 24 hours before rental: 50% of the rental price.
- In case of “force majeure” (natural disaster, state pandemic measures preventing movement), no cancellation fee is charged.
Article 11 – Final Provisions
- Legal relationships are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic. Any disputes will be resolved primarily by agreement, or before the court of competent jurisdiction in Košice.
- Consumers have the option to resolve disputes through the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) system (SOI).
- Information on the processing of personal data (GDPR) is available in the Privacy Policy section.
- The Lessor reserves the right to change the GTC, publishing the change on the website at least 14 days in advance.
